Campaign B:

“SAVE WORKERS TO END EXTREME POVERTY”

——— Save the lives of workers and pull them out from poverty.

Bangladesh economy is still depend on in this RMG sector where almost  gains  75% GDP, world’s second largest clothing manufacturer and exporters with ensuring highest quality standard  after Chain .Bangladesh gains  80% export income from RMG Sector , where almost 4 million people working , 80 % workers are women which has been indicated a sharp development for women empowerment. Over the last two decades Bangladesh becomes one of countries among developing countries who break the chain of poverty and developed the live of standard according to United Nations and that had been possible by only Garments industries, only by the hard working people in these industries.

A lot of people breaks the chain of unemployment problem in Bangladesh, that’s happened  only for this industrial revolution in Bangladesh ,that’s Ready made garments where Bangladesh compete with Giant factories, with most other powerful economy in Asia.

The quality of Garments in Bangladesh is world renowned ,trusted by Buyers, retailers, consumers and world famous brand like Walmart, H&M, Zara, Direct Sports, Tesco, Topshops, Gap, Matalan and others world famous brand around the world.

This sector has being effected by the recession in world wide, but still a lot of people surviving in this sector still in Bangladesh because only the hard working efforts of Garments worker, Governmental positive initiatives and exact steps provided by BGMEA and others Labour organizations, Labour unions etc.

In this recession period , a lot of buyers cancel their orders , reduce their offering prices which resulted closer a lot of factories , factories owners could not pay wages in time with resulted unrest in this industries, unrest resulted bad impact among buyers, international images , consumers and its increases on growing pressures in the Governments of Bangladesh and others governmental agencies like BGMEA.

And finally Bangladesh lost a lot of orders, A lot of buyers placed their orders in others countries like Vietnam , Cambodia ,Sri Lanka, India ,China etc.

And this resulted to increase poverty again in Bangladesh.

But world famous buyers still prefer Bangladesh is their close allies in the fashion industries because only Bangladesh can ensure buyers satisfaction, qualitative products with competitive prices and timely delivery where as some others giant manufacturers can’t fulfil like Bangladesh according to Retailers reviews and feedback.

Very recent incidents in Bangladesh like some fire accidents , Rana plaza  collapse which has been taken 1129 valuable lives , workers , whole nations is very shocked along with international communities , donor agencies ,buyers ,retailers ,consumers and world leaders as well. And the Government of Bangladesh has been taken necessary steps to save the workers live in time and properly and still the process going on.

The Government of Bangladesh dedicated the full phase efforts to support in this industries , developing the life of standards of working class people.

That’s why government increased minimum wages, over time rate and some others welfare schemes along with retailers different terms and condition.

Bangladesh government always trying to fulfil buyers code of conduct , factories and workers compliance  related conditions whenever and whatever imposed .

And factories owners are very aware or worker related issues , facilities because they don’t want to create any unrest among the workers which lead to launch another procession , strike  and others unstable situation and buyers does not want any more unrest in Bangladesh .

If buyers dissatisfaction means Bangladesh will lose a lot of orders in this competitive markets which would result increase poverty in Bangladesh .

Recently incidents in Rana plaza resulted closer a lot of factories , increase huge unemployment problem which resulting poverty in Bangladesh.

So recent Rana plaza incidents not only taken the lives of more than 1128 workers but also snatches hundreds thousands of workers lives invisibly as a lot of factories getting closer , a lot of factories facing difficulties regarding different terms and conditions , a lot of orders has being cancelled  etc.

PAHD team and whole team force has monitoring closely and surveying recent Fashion campaign or Bangladesh Fire safety accord campaign or Fashion Transparency Campaigns in United Kingdom along with others International organization and appreciate their recent understanding and initiatives for the working class people for not only Bangladesh but also all over the world. And PAHD have been supporting all the campaign organization , what we are trying to making mutual understanding between Retailers(Buyers ) and campaigners as the safety accord should be acceptable  and retailers should be followed all this rules and regulations with open arms .In London a lot of international charities organizations , donor agencies gearing up campaign , highlighting rana plaza incidents only which  , tarnishing Bangladeshi impress , images in the international communities where as they have remarkable achievement   to eradicate poverty across the world  over the last 30  years along with the initiatives of Millennium Developments of Goals by United Nations, AidUK. AidAus, AidUSA , world Bank, IMF, European Union,G8,G20 etc.

If the campaign(in London by others campaign organization) increase pressures to the retailers to impose concrete rules and regulations for the name of  Bangladesh Fashion safety accord which resulting not to given orders to Bangladesh , that’s mean poverty will increase in Asia again with some others  countries like India,Sri lanka, Pakistan and it would lead to increase regional instability if poverty increases.

That’s why PAHD differ in some phases about this campaign  issues .We believe that Rana plaza incidents snatches 1129 lives , but if the buyers or retailers refrain to place orders in Bangladesh , which will leads to increase poverty in Bangladesh and 4 million people in Bangladesh will lose job next years.

So our campaign to save workers to end extreme poverty in not only in Bangladesh but also all over the world and we would like to implement our research result to give world a sustainable solution for the greater interest of working classes peoples.

And we also support the living wages related campaigns rather than having minimum wages.
